Sherman family correspondence and photographs, 1862-[19--] (bulk 1881-1889).

Correspondence includes two signed typescript copies of letters from John Sherman to Edward P. Ransom of Cincinnati regarding the nomination of Judge J.B. Foraker for [governor of Ohio?] and the recommendation of Ransom for an unidentified patronage position. Two handwritten letters with envelope between William T. Sherman and his nephew, Ramsey Probasco, regarding the nephew's admiration of Sherman and feelings toward war and duty to country. Also includes six Sherman family photographs.

Sherman was born in Lancaster, Ohio to Charles Robert Sherman and his wife, Mary Hoyt Sherman, the eighth of their 11 children.
